Asphalt Recycling
Asphalt is 100% recyclable. Pyramid Paving can remove existing asphalt, either by cold-milling or excavation, and reintroduce it into a new mix at a later date. This is an environmentally friendly way to reconstruct your parking lot.
Cold milling is the process of removing asphalt with a machine consisting of a rotating drum with teeth and a conveyer belt and loading the removed asphalt into trucks. This process can be either done on the entire parking lot, or around hard surfaces such as curb, sidewalk, and catch basins.
Excavation is the process of removing sections of failing asphalt, usually to correct a sub base problem. The chunks of removed asphalt are loaded up and hauled back to our stock pile of recyclable asphalt which are later crushed & milled for re-use.
1992 and 14 years later
Pyramid Paving was called upon to recycle the asphalt at North Pointe Plaza that we had originally laid 14 years prior. The base was in excellent condition, so all that was needed was a new wearing course.
